Trinidad and Tobago moves to license remote gambling

On 30 September 2026 Trinidad and Tobago’s House of Representatives approved the Gambling (Gaming and Betting) (Remote Gambling) Order 2026, with support from both the government and the opposition. The order brings into force a licensing system for remote operators that was set out in the 2021 Gambling Act but never proclaimed. NEXT.io reported that the Senate was due to review it on 1 October.

Key points

  • The order activates remote gambling licensing under the 2021 Gambling Act
  • Supervision by the Gambling Control Commission and the Central Bank, according to TTT
  • Until now, unlicensed remote operators faced fines of $5–10 million and 7–10 years in prison
  • NEXT.io says it would make the country the fourth Caribbean offshore licensing regime

What the order does

The order switches on the part of the 2021 Gambling Act that covers remote gambling. Until now there was no way to license an online operator, and remote operators faced fines of $5 million to $10 million and prison terms of seven to ten years. Finance Minister Davendranath Tancoo said operators would pay their fair share through the Board of Inland Revenue.

The context

Regulated gaming revenue was about TT$72.66 million in 2025, according to TTT. NEXT.io notes that, once in force, Trinidad and Tobago would become the fourth Caribbean offshore licensing regime after Curaçao, Antigua and Barbuda, and St Kitts and Nevis.

What to watch

The licence terms, fees and technical standards are the next step, and they decide whether the regime suits international operators or mainly local ones. For suppliers, a new licensing hub means new operators that need certified content and a platform. With the IGP casino API, content is enabled per licence, so a new jurisdiction is a configuration, not a new build.

Ready for the next licence

150+ providers and 18,000+ games through one integration, with availability set per licence and per market.
