UK deposit limit rules are now in force: what changed on 30 September
From 30 September 2026 every operator licensed by the Gambling Commission must offer gross deposit limits, use the name “deposit limits” only for them, and show them with at least equal prominence to any other financial limit. It is the second phase of the changes to Remote Technical Standard 12, pushed back three months from 30 June after operators asked for more time.
What operators must do now
- Offer gross deposit limits, and re-introduce them where they had been removed
- Call only gross deposit limits “deposit limits”
- Offer them with at least equal prominence to other financial limits
- Use fixed time frames for gross deposit limits; other limits may be rolling or fixed
Two phases, one standard
The first phase of the RTS 12 changes, introduced in October 2025, improved the tools customers use to manage their gambling. The second phase was due on 30 June 2026. On 26 May the Commission announced a three-month extension, moving the date to 30 September 2026.
The Commission said the changes aim to bring consistency and clarity for consumers who choose to set deposit limits.
Why the naming rule matters
Until now operators could use the label “deposit limit” for different kinds of financial limit, so the same words did not always mean the same protection. From 30 September only a gross deposit limit may carry that name, and it must be offered over fixed time frames. Help pages, customer messages and compliance reporting need to use the same wording.
What it means for your game integration
Deposit limits live in the cashier and the player account, not inside the games. If your content comes through a casino API on a seamless wallet, the balance and the limits stay on your platform, so nothing changes on the game side.
The work is in the account area: the limit settings screen, the naming, the prominence and the time frames. If you are unsure where your balance actually sits, see our comparison of seamless and transfer wallets.
UK content, one integration
150+ providers and 18,000+ games through one casino API, with the certified list for Great Britain confirmed up front and your wallet kept in your hands.
